What is up my people, Will Mansour here with another Fireside Chat BLOG where every single week we give you valuable information to transform your life.

Today we have another amazing BLOG talking to you about the power of a Morning Routine. We are going to cover a lot in a short amount of time. The Morning Routine is a huge part of my life and the lives of many successful people. There have been countless books on the Morning Routine. So, let’s get started!!!

As I write this, I am seven (7) plus months into having a successful Morning Routine. Now, this routine I have developed today was not the routine I actually started with when I started this journey, it has been modified and modified since its inception, however, today I am pretty rock solid in my routine. Having a Morning Routine, believe it or not, increases productivity and releases stress. It will set you up for a productive day, which leads to more victories for you overall.

Winning is such a strong character trait as it generates confidence, motivation and allows you to successfully execute the systems you have created to achieve your set goals.

Some people ask me what my Morning Routine consists of? I will say this, we are all different and what motivates me will not motivate you, or maybe it will. Find a routine that works for you and your lifestyle. If you have the ability to wake up early while the birds are chirping, then by all means go for it! It is important to modify your routine so that it doesn’t become stagnant over time, which can deter you from executing. Let’s check out some of the key components for any Morning Routine.

What is a Morning Routine and what is its Purpose?

I would define a Morning Routine as time for yourself before the day begins. This time is yours and is usually started in the early hours of the day, say 5am. I have read some amazing books, which have shaped my Morning Routine. Ideas streaming from these books have created habits for myself. Here is my BLOG post on The Power of Habits.

I have defined HABITS for myself I want to create and habits I want to eliminate. My Morning Routine is the SYSTEM to execute on the success of generating and eliminating my HABITS.

Morning Routines are best kept simple. The more you add to your routine the harder they are to achieve.

This was a step by step evolution. If I was to try and start with the Morning Routine where I am today, I would probably fail. The essential steps are to keep it simple, especially in the beginning. Work your way up to where you want to be and start with small steps.

A great exercise is to look ahead. See yourself twelve months in advance and write down what your Morning Routine would look like in twelve months. Then take that routine and break it down into stages starting at the beginning and ending in the end!


Accomplishing something creates Dopamine in your brain. It is extremely important to have strong levels of Dopamine.

What is Dopamine?

Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter. Your body makes it, and your nervous system uses it to send messages between nerve cells. That’s why it’s sometimes called a chemical messenger.

Dopamine plays a role in how we feel pleasure. It’s a big part of our unique human ability to think and plan. It helps us strive, focus, and find things interesting.

Your body spreads it along four major pathways in the brain. Like most other systems in the body, you don’t notice it (or maybe even know about it) until there’s a problem.

Too much or too little of it can lead to a vast range of health issues. Some are serious, like Parkinson’s disease. Others are much less dire.


Now that we understand what Dopamine is and the power it can possess, we can understand that having a Morning Routine and starting your day off in the right direction can lead to productivity and huge wins.

How many of us reach for our phones when we first wake up and start our days by scrolling through social media platforms only to learn of other people’s superficial successes, which can bring us to a very poor mental state of affairs before we even start our days? We are all guilty of this in some regards. It often leads to a less productive start to the day. Excuses start rolling in. All of a sudden you are unproductive and struggling with a lack of motivation.

Now, try starting the day with an uplifting routine that starts while everyone else is sleeping?! Think about the pleasure associated with this? I am getting motivated right now as I write this, and I have already completed my Morning Routine! Always find ways to push through the Pain associated with starting the routine. Think of the Pleasure it will bring you.

If getting out of bed early in the morning is causing you Pain, then it’s time to change up your thought patterns and start associating Pleasure with getting out of bed early. Once you master this, it becomes a Habit for you and will be automatic.

What Are You Waiting For?

Life is too short. Don’t wait to find motivation to build your Morning Routine, start immediately. Take ACTION! When starting to build your routine, I would keep in mind a few housekeeping tactics. I will illustrate these in a number of key points to take into consideration.

Create a List of all the items you would like to accomplish during your Morning Routine

Put everything down on paper, EVERYTHING, that you would like to put into your Morning Routine. This is anything that has come to mind. This is a great way to start the process as it will organize your thought process.

Select your top three

When I started this, I had over forty things written down. I just dumped everything into my journal. I had a lot of pretty good habits I wanted to implement into my Morning Routine, which I was not doing at the time. This is a tough part to getting started for some, but it doesn’t have to be for you. Remember what I mentioned earlier about looking twelve months ahead? This is where this Brain Dump comes in handy. Create your evolution using these habits you have written down. If you have written down twenty habits, then order them from one to twenty and start with one and work your way up to twenty. It’s that simple!

Keep a journal & put your routine into your calendar!

This was HUGE for me. I write everything down. It is a great tactic as you can measure your success if you look back at where you started. Talk about a Dopamine rush. How great would it be to see how far you have come from where you started?

By assigning time frames to your habits and by putting these into your calendar, you have Time-Blocked your habits into your Morning Routine. This in itself is the start of the System Building to achieve your Habits.

Mastering Excuses

Excuses are a funny thing. We either own our excuses or they own us. When I started implementing my morning routine, a Mentor of mine gave me some sound advice. She said, imagine starting your day off with an excuse? How would the rest of your day look? This was excellent advice. Have you ever found yourself lying in bed and instead of getting out bed like you said you would you tell yourself you are going to just lie there for a few more minutes? Well what you have essentially done is started your day off with an Excuse!

Own your excuses, do not let them own you!

Baby Steps

Starting a Morning Routine can be like New Yea’rs all over again. How many of us assign New Year’s Resolutions to ourselves that never stick? The reason is we set ourselves up for failure before the start date even comes. A good rule of thumb is to start with 1%. Start by improving 1% every day. One of the hardest things for me was waking up at 5am.

If I wasn’t used to waking up at 5am every day, how in the world would I all of a sudden start? The answer was 1% improvement every day!

I started waking up at 6am every day, then each week I would move my alarm back by ten (10) minutes, and so on and so on. See the trend. Within two weeks I was waking up at 5:30am and after a month I was consistently waking up at 5am! Small increases allowed me to get to where I wanted to eventually be.
